It all began in Richardson in 1963.....

Richardson/Plano Chi Omega Alumnae Association was organized in 1963.  Consisting of membership primarily from Richardson, the group has grown to include members from Plano, Dallas, and surrounding areas of Allen, Frisco, McKinney, Wylie and Rockwall.  We meet on the first Wednesday of each month at 7:00 p.m., beginning in September with our "Howdy Hoot" welcome back meeting, and ending in May with our "Cinco de Chi-O" Fiesta.  The Executive Board meets in the summer to plan programs, budget and activities for the coming year and during the year for the purpose of discussion of any necessary bylaws changes and Recruitment Board review.  We marked the 50 year anniversary of our Alumnae Association in 2013, with a celebration in Fall 2015.  Here is a review of how it all happened in Richardson in 1963. We hope you enjoy the "her-story" about how it all began...

Marge Eldridge ensured that the spirit of Chi Omega sisterhood was alive and well in the Richardson-Plano area. She was among the founders of the Richardson group, presently called the Richardson-Plano Alumnae Association. She contacted Jean Joy Frambes and Kay Schafer, who both remember the first meeting being held at the home of Jan Sly. The two of them, along with Jan and Norma Knobles Hunt were among those attending. They had been encouraged by the Dallas Alumnae to start a Chi Omega Alumnae Group in the North Dallas Area. Marge also remembers that one of the first meetings the founders had was an organizational meeting held at Richardson High School, on Beltline Road in Richardson. Other members in the early days were Jenny Reeves and Carolyn Mcguire. Kay Shafer was the first president and Jean Joy Frambes, the second.

Among the founders and early members were these ladies who served as early presidents:

Kay Schafer 1963-64; Jean Joy Frambes 1964-65; Louise Hager 1966-67; Marsha Mattocks 1967-68; Donna Harris 1968-69; Illa Jackson 1969-70; Karen Kline 1970-71; Twyla Joyce 1971-72; Joan Lane 1972-73; Shirley Lockett 1973-74; Charlotte Sullivan 1974-75; Carol Heller 1975-76.
